Most full-size tubs need their own 240-volt circuit run from the panel. They also need a GFCI-protected disconnect mounted within sight of the tub, and wire sized for the amperage on the manufacturer's spec sheet. An extension cord is not safe. We start by looking at your panel to see whether it has room for a new breaker and enough capacity for the tub. If it doesn't, we'll talk through the options with you before any work starts. Then we plan the route from the panel to the deck or patio, run the circuit, set the disconnect and make the final connection at the tub. Have the tub's install manual handy when you call, and know where the tub will sit if you can. That lets us give you an accurate estimate and keeps the install day straightforward. The pad, deck and delivery usually come from your dealer or builder. We check panel space and capacity before anything else. If there isn't room, we'll explain your options before work starts. Those can include a subpanel or a service upgrade. Should the electrical work happen before the tub is delivered? It can happen before or after delivery. Running the circuit first lets us work without the tub in the way.
